A Private Network Built on
the Right Introductions

SAFC is not a membership directory, a deal-flow platform, or a conference circuit. It is a managed network of principals — Chinese and East African — who have been selected on the basis of what they are building and what they are capable of contributing.

Philosophy

Most cross-border networks operate on the assumption that scale produces value — that connecting more people to more people eventually generates the right introduction. SAFC operates on the opposite premise. The right introduction is rare. It requires context, trust, and a genuine understanding of what each party actually needs. A network that cannot guarantee that is not a network worth joining.

The China–East Africa corridor is not new, but it remains poorly understood by most operators on both sides. Chinese principals frequently underestimate the complexity of local market dynamics, regulatory environments, and the weight that personal relationships carry in East African business culture. East African founders often lack the context to identify the right Chinese partner — distinguishing manufacturers from traders, capital from advisors, and intent from opportunism.

SAFC exists to close that gap — not through information alone, but through the kind of relationship-based access that neither side can build independently. The circle is selective because it must be. Quality of membership is what makes the introductions worth making.

How it operates

The Structure Behind Access

Application & Review

Every application is reviewed personally against a clear set of criteria: relevance, seriousness of intent, and potential contribution to the network. There is no automated scoring. Decisions are made by the circle's principals, and responses are provided within fourteen working days.

Introduction Protocol

Introductions are made between members only when both parties have expressed a clear and specific mutual interest. SAFC does not facilitate cold introductions or broadcast member details to the general network. Every introduction is reviewed, prepared, and personally facilitated.

Private Gatherings

The circle convenes through invitation-only dinners, roundtables, and strategic sessions across Nairobi, Shenzhen, Kigali, and other active cities. Attendance is by access request and confirmed only after review. The format is designed for substance — not spectacle.

Ongoing Access

Membership is not transactional. Active members receive access to executive briefings, corridor intelligence, and the introductions that the circle can facilitate. The expectation is reciprocal: members contribute knowledge, relationships, and seriousness of engagement.

What Membership Is and Is Not

SAFC does not offer guaranteed outcomes, and we will not pretend otherwise. Being accepted into the circle means you have been assessed as a serious operator with a legitimate interest in the corridor. It does not mean a transaction will result, a partnership will form, or a deal will close. Those outcomes depend on the work that members bring to the relationships that the circle facilitates.

We do not publish testimonials. We do not claim a roster of landmark deals. The circle's value is structural, not promotional — and the principals who benefit most from it are those who understand the difference between a network and a directory.

What we ask of members

  • Honest and complete representation of who you are and what you are building.

  • Responsiveness when an introduction is facilitated — both parties have committed time.

  • Discretion regarding other members, private gatherings, and internal communications.

  • Reciprocal contribution to the network — knowledge shared, not just sought.

Geography

Where the Circle Operates

SAFC operates across the principal cities of the China–East Africa corridor. Gatherings are hosted in these locations. Introductions are facilitated between principals based there. The circle has no presence outside these geographies by design — focus is a precondition of quality.
